Ways to polish gold at home
The original gold is distinguished from the traditional gold with its dazzling brilliance, but some pieces of gold may lose a large part of its gloss due to exposure to different weather conditions and the accumulation of dirt and dust on them, and any woman can maintain the luster of gold pieces by cleaning and polishing from time to time using one of the following methods:
Washing liquid
- Fill a deep bowl with warm water, add a little liquid to clean the fat, and prevent the use of hot water so as not to crack the precious stones on the pieces of gold, if any.
- The mixture of water is stirred until it blends together, and the gold pieces are then soaked for 10 minutes.
- Remove the pieces of gold from the water mixture, then rub using a soft toothbrush to get rid of the dust and dirt accumulated between the corners.
- Wash the gold pieces with lukewarm water only, and then dry using the drying paper.
With ammonia liquid
Ammonia liquid is used to clean platinum-free and gem-free gold pieces as follows:
- In a small, deep bowl, mix a tablespoon of ammonia with six tablespoons of lukewarm water.
- Dip gold pieces to be cleaned in ammonia and water mixture, and leave for as long as 60 seconds.
- Remove the gold pieces from the mixture using a small strainer, taking into account the lack of contact with the mixture to the hands to avoid skin burns.
- The lukewarm water is poured only over the gold pieces to remove the traces of the ammonia found on it.
With soap
- A sufficient amount of soap is sprayed, preferably using olive oil soap.
- Boil a suitable amount of water with soap spray on a warm heat, then add the pieces of gold to be cleaned, and leave to boil with a mixture of water and spray soap for two minutes.
- Remove the gold pieces from the water mixture and spray the soap and leave until slightly cool, then gently rub using a new toothbrush.
- Wash gold pieces with lukewarm water, then dry using clean cloth.
Toothpaste
- Mix two tablespoons of toothpaste with a little water until getting a creamy mixture.
- Immerse a soft toothbrush into the resulting mix, then use it to rub the gold pieces.
- Wash the gold pieces, then dry.
