If the skin is dry, in addition, if the person is allergic to vegetable oils and moisturizers such as beeswax, shea butter, castor seeds, and soybean oil, they should be replaced by products that are based on the oil gel.
It is important to note that the lips do not contain fatty glands such as other parts of the skin. For this reason, the lips are more likely to become dry and cracked, and the weather affects it causes the lack of moisture especially in winter, and the repeated exposure to the sun in summer leads to an increase cracking the lips.
Tips for preventing lips cracking
There are several tips to prevent lip cracking, including:
- Protect the lips before going out in cold and dry weather, by placing a cream containing moisturizer or sunscreen on the lips, and repeat it during going out.
- Avoid flavored lip balm because it will increase the licking of the lips and the saliva will evaporate quickly, leaving the lips drier.
- Avoid allergens in cosmetics or skin care products, such as perfumes or dyes.
- Try breathing from the nose; because breathing from the mouth causes dry lips.
- Avoid some foods that cause irritation and cracking of the lips, such as citrus and figs.
