Burns
Burns are a skin injury that occurs as a result of direct exposure to heat, such as hot water spills, oil or the like, sun exposure for long periods at peak time, burns caused by chemical spills, or electric current, and other causes of burns But these are the most common reasons.
Types of burns
Burns are classified according to their depth, which determines the degree of severity and impact on the skin and subcutaneous, namely:
- First-degree burns: It is the damage in the outer layer of the skin, and most often cause pain when exposed to burning, then the pain disappears, the skin turns red, turns brown, the skin scabs, the burn disappears, and it is due to touching hot liquids or sunburn.
- Second-degree burns: It can damage the outer layers of the skin. Bubbles or pills can appear on the skin where the burn is located, and most often leave a mark or scar in place after it heals, such as touching the iron or oven.
- Third-degree burns: In this the damage extends from the layers of the skin until the tissue reaches under the skin, and can strike the nerve endings and the skin becomes harsh and coarse.
- Burns of the fourth degree: This type of burns is the most serious, it has reached the muscles, nerves, and even bones, which makes the injury bad, and the skin turns to black, and does not feel pain from the severity of nerve damage.
Treatment of burns
The treatment of burns depends on the type and degree of infection. It can be treated at home with simple ingredients. The deeper the treatment, the more difficult it is and the need for a hospital. Therefore, the first step in treatment is to determine the degree of injury and the extent of the injury.
- Cold water is poured gently as a first aid, for a quarter of an hour, but should not use very cold water or ice.
- Dissolve apple vinegar or white vinegar with cold water, and act as a soft cloth to reduce pain. Preferably, the cloth should not be popper so as not to stick to the wound, especially if it is second class and more.
- Soak the black tea bags in cold water and use as compresses on the affected area.
- Laying egg whites on the burn, it relieves pain, accelerates healing, reduces skin deformity.
- Cut off the head of the onions and squeezed directly on the place of burning, a famous method among the chefs.
- Wrap a piece of gauze moistened with lavender oil, and re-moisten each period.
- Grease a large amount of toothpaste and leave it for a full day, it relieves pain, and prevents the formation of pus.
- Put a slice of tomatoes or potatoes on the place of burning, it relieves pain, and prevents the formation of pustules bulges.
