Throat Cancer

Throat Cancer

What is the larynx?

The larynx is a member of the human body. It is located at the front of the neck and is about 5 cm wide and about 5 cm wide.

Located between the pharynx from the top and the trachea from the bottom and is in front of the beginning of the esophagus.

Is made up of cartilage and muscle called Adam’s apple and muscles inside covered with mucous membrane of the muscles are two white ropes are vocal cords.

The throat is divided into three sections:

1 – area of vocal cords

2 – above the area of vocal cords connected to pharynx

3 – under the area of vocal cords connected to the trachea

It plays an important role in speech, breathing, coughing and swallowing. It is the safe guard where food and water are prevented from entering the trachea by closing the throat door while swallowing and opening it while breathing and talking.

Cancer is the building of new cells in a certain area of the human body without a goal to play and this proliferation does not stop and reaches a stage that starts to harm healthy tissues, usually these cells die, but in the beginnings of cancer cells do not die and begin to take the place of healthy tissue and destroy it and start cancer.

  • Benign tumors rarely affect human life, causing death and are usually easily removed and the member returns to his previous nature with very little effect.
  • Malignant tumors are usually serious and affect human life and can be removed and treated if detected in the early stages and recovery rate may reach 95% either if left and discovered in the final stages, the recovery rate is few and may need to remove the throat and sometimes part of the neck muscles.

No one knows what caused the cancer. Doctors can not explain one person’s cancer and one non-infectious disease.

But there are factors that have helped study and statistics and these factors increase the incidence of cancer:

1. Age: Usually over 55 years

2. Sex: Four times more in males than women.

3. Smoking: The incidence of smoking in smokers is much higher than in non-smokers and is more so in smokers who drink alcohol as well as lung cancer, pharynx, tongue, pancreas and urinary bladder.

4. Alcohol: The greater the amount of drink, the greater the rate of cancer.

5 – the occurrence of cancer in the vicinity

6 – Work: with sulfuric acid, oxylic acid and asbestos

Dependent on the size and location of the tumor This includes:

1 – a swell or change in sound

2 – tumor in the neck

3 – a feeling of something strange in the throat or a tip that does not swallow

4 – cough not treated or diluted with medication

5 – a sense of suffocation especially at night

6 – the smell of foul mouth

7. Authorization

8 – sudden weight loss without work gratuitous and unjustified because of another

These symptoms are not only for larynx cancer but for several other serious diseases only the doctor can distinguish it.

Diagnosis is much easier with the introduction of diagnostic tools. With the presence of laryngoscopy and upper respiratory system, the doctor can give a very accurate diagnosis of the condition of the patient without the patient entering the hospital, but the patient may need the hospital if the doctor considers it necessary to take a sample under the general anesthesia to determine the quality of the tumor.

  • CT scans may be needed by the doctor to determine the extent and size of the tumor
  • Blood tests to show the patient’s general health status
  • After entering the hospital two days show the result of the sample and determine if it is sound, , or needs the patient to move to the next stage is the treatment stage
  • Type of sample and where
  • How long the process takes
  • How long the result lasts
  • If cancer appears what are the means of treatment
  • Are there treatment options?
  • Are there other tests that should be conducted?

These questions are a sample of questions that a doctor usually experiences when a throat cancer patient is present

The patient itself should have the right to decide the treatment and they are a part of it. Therefore, the patient should know the patient himself and not the parents (unless there is a mental reason) all the details of the treatment and its risks, duration, pain, problems and results.

1. Prepare a list of written doctor’s questions

2. Writing the responses of the questions

3 – Recording the meeting that the doctor allowed it

4 – the presence of one or more members of the family, especially from the medical field, if any

5. Giving the final decision is much better after taking another medical opinion

Nuclear radiotherapy alone

Radiotherapy with surgery

Radiotherapy with chemotherapy

Laryngeal carcinoma is one of the best cancers for recovery. It may sometimes be 95% if the patient was first seen. The procedure was performed quickly and the patient followed it with care and perseverance and may be less, depending on the condition, size,

I hope that patients are careful about themselves and that people do not neglect the symptoms of the disease and review the trust of doctors to show a clear diagnosis of the symptoms of their disease
