Child
At six months of age, the child needs another food along with the milk. Milk does not provide the child with all the materials his body needs, especially the iron. Therefore, the mother should start with small meals for her child consisting of solid foods, And be three to six tablespoons once or twice a day.
Attention should be given to the need for the child to be given one food for at least three days before being identified with a new type to recognize the child’s acceptance of that food and to ensure that your child is not allergic to that variety.
Good first foods for the baby
- One type of cereal, such as baby rice sold in the pharmacy can be prepared at home.
- Two varieties of vegetables (such as potatoes, sweet potatoes, and carrots) that are cooked and crushed until we have a very soft mixture.
- Varieties of fruit cooked on fire that are crushed, such as apples and pears.
- The banana is well mature and mashed.
Note: Do not add salt, sugar, honey, or any kind of sweeteners to small food, and you should not provide cow’s milk until the end of the first year at least.
Time of feeding the six-month-old child
- Breast milk or artificial milk can be provided early in the morning after waking up.
- Three to six spoons of ground rice for children, with breast milk or artificial milk, or three to six tablespoons of any vegetable or mashed fruit can be served after a period of milk consumption.
- Breast milk or artificial milk is provided to the child for lunch.
- Breast milk or artificial milk can be offered to the baby before bedtime, and can also provide a late snack before bedtime.

Mashed carrots
- Place a few washed and cut carrots in a small amount of water until the carrots become soft.
- Place the carrots inside the blender with two tablespoons or three spoons of boiling water until a soft, cohesive mixture is formed.
- Note: The child will not be able to take the whole quantity once, so the remaining amount is kept inside the freezer in small quantities using the ice tray.
Food and drink harmful to the child
- The eggs are well cooked.
- Sparkling beverages such as: tea, coffee, or beverages that contain flavored or creamy beverages.
- Foods that contain a lot of salt.
- Industrial juices and soft drinks such as Pepsi.
