At six months of age, the child needs another food along with the milk. Milk does not provide the child with all the materials his body needs, especially the iron. Therefore, the mother should start with small meals for her child consisting of solid foods, And be three to six tablespoons once or twice a day.

Attention should be given to the need for the child to be given one food for at least three days before being identified with a new type to recognize the child’s acceptance of that food and to ensure that your child is not allergic to that variety.

Good first foods for the baby

  • One type of cereal, such as baby rice sold in the pharmacy can be prepared at home.
  • Two varieties of vegetables (such as potatoes, sweet potatoes, and carrots) that are cooked and crushed until we have a very soft mixture.
  • Varieties of fruit cooked on fire that are crushed, such as apples and pears.
  • The banana is well mature and mashed.

Note: Do not add salt, sugar, honey, or any kind of sweeteners to small food, and you should not provide cow’s milk until the end of the first year at least.

Time of feeding the six-month-old child

  • Foods that contain a lot of salt.
  • Industrial juices and soft drinks such as Pepsi.
