How to clean gold

gold

Gold is the precious yellow metal, which is characterized by luster and gloss, and one of the most used metals in the jewelry industry, which is mostly decorated by women, and used in the past in the form of metal parts traded as money. and today gold became a safe area for investment, both in the stock exchange, It is known that the price of gold is constantly increasing. It is an element that is not affected by humidity and air. It is inert in the reactions unless it finds a catalyst in the reaction, in addition to resisting the mineral acids, but it melts in concentrated acids. This is a good choice for use in jewelry, but with time it accumulates dirt, dust, and perhaps body secretions when you wear them continuously, making it need cleaning to regain its luster and brightness.

Ways to clean gold

Warm water means clear

Bring a bowl of warm water, add about a tablespoon of clear liquid, then dunk it for 10 minutes, then take an old soft toothbrush and rub the pieces of gold to remove the dirt from the edges, but gently if it contains precious stones, to avoid falling, and not to use hot water, so as not to crack stones, and then wash with running water, and dry well using a piece of cotton cloth, and you will notice the return of luster and shine.

Ammonia

In a bowl, put the water and ammonia by six to one. For 1 minute, immerse the gold jewelry, then rinse it with running water and dry it with a cotton cloth. Do not use this method for jewelry with pearl or platinum.  Ammonia is a strong substance affecting gold, and the criteria and duration of gold soaking should be adhered to with ammonia.

toothpaste

Pour a little toothpaste into the water so that its water becomes slightly hydrated. Use a soft toothbrush to rub the gold pieces with engraved drawings, then rinse them with water and dry them well. If the pieces are smooth the surface can moisten a cotton piece with water-diluted toothpaste and wipe it with straight lines. This method is better not to cause scratching.

The jewelry should be stored in its own boxes and taken out when worn, to prevent the accumulation of dust and dirt on them. If stains and grease are found, and the previous means are not useful, they should be sent to the jeweler to clean them safely, especially if they contain precious stones or pearls.
