Diamond
Diamonds are one type of natural and rare mineral, consisting mainly of carbon. Each carbon atom in diamonds surrounds four other carbon atoms, which in turn are bound by strong chemical bonds, producing the most durable and versatile mineral. Diamonds are mainly made of coal.
Diamonds are the most naturally occurring natural materials that conduct electricity, making it suitable for use as a cutting tool for materials requiring robust tools in use.
Source of diamonds
There is no diamond above ground, it needs high temperatures, high pressure, and these conditions can only be available underground, at a distance of at least 100 m below ground, which does not mean that there is no diamond above the surface of the earth absolutely, as natural factors such as volcanoes helped to extrude diamonds in the surface of the earth, and man was able to manufacture diamonds through rock mining, soil mining, or rock deposits.
Specifications of diamonds
The quality of the diamond can be determined primarily through color, cuts, clarity and weight, and developed in 1950 a standardized method for assessing the quality of diamonds from the Institute of Gems in America, 4Cs Of the quality of the diamonds, and the quality of the diamond is based on the following specifications:
- the color: Colored diamonds are the finest diamonds, and they carry the highest prices around the world. Colored diamonds depend on additional factors such as purity, quality, and color.
- Purity: Pure diamonds, free of internal and surface fractures, are the best quality. If fractures are found, or the diamond stone turns darker, the stone will lose much of its value and quality.
- Cutting: The concept of cutting refers to the craft used in the design of the diamond stone, the quality of polishing, glittering, the diamond, which carries a high quality, is polished in a literal manner, all sides are equal in size, perfectly matched in shape, and edges are polished in all respects.
- Carat: Diamonds are sold in carats; a weight unit of 1/5 grams. small diamonds typically cost a lower price per carat of large stones of equal quality, due to the scarcity of large diamond stones.
