Adrenal gland

Adrenal gland

The adrenal gland is a silent gland that secrete hormones in the blood. It consists of two main layers, the cortex and the medulla. The gland produces catecholamine, adrenaline and noradrenaline, to cope with emergencies. The cortex is made up of three main layers. The first layer of the cortex is the glomerulosa (zona glomerulosa), the proximal outer layer of the capsule. Paraffin or aldosterone
(aldosterone)

The second layer is the zona fasciculata, the main layer where the bulk of the cortex is made. It secrete glucocorticosteroids mainly as well as male hormones or androgens,

The inner layer, close to the pulp, is the retinal layer (zona reticularis), which secrete the androgens mainly.
