How to get rid of chlorine stains on clothes

Chlorine stains

Housewives use chlorine during cleaning to sterilize, remove odors or stubborn stains that leave pigments on household utensils or floor tiles and even laundry. For many uses of chlorine can not avoid contact with the skin or clothing, and when touched to the skin must be washed with water directly, and if it is diluted with water, chlorine becomes harmless, while for some of the clothes bear chlorine and keep the color in front of him, most of the fabrics have a special sensitivity to chlorine. To remove the color directly from the cloth and leave it dull but not beautiful.

Methods of treating chlorine stains

Use alcohol

Materials

  • cotton.
  • Alcohol (ethanol).

Steps

  • Form cotton in the shape of small balls.
  • Put a little alcohol on a cotton ball.
  • Place the piece in the spot, and rub the spot and surrounding area using the cotton ball.
  • Continue to rub until the color moves to the spot and covers it.

The disadvantages of this method:

  • Depending on the size of the spot, small patches are easy to hide, while larger spots are difficult to handle.
  • The color of the item we handle; darker colors give better results than light-color processing.

Wash the dish with chlorine

That is to put the whole piece in a solution of chlorine with water, the color will change completely and become homogeneous, and must deal with the piece alone, and do not put them in the washing machine with other parts, so that we do not have to deal with new pieces.

Materials:

  • Chlorine in an appropriate quantity.
  • Wash basin or washing machine.
  • Sodium thiocriptate, or hydrogen peroxide, these substances act as an anti-chlorine, or equivalent to its effect.

Steps

  • Fill the tub with water, and put the piece inside.
  • We add a quarter cup of chlorine in a 20-liter tank, and if the capacity of the tub is greater, we increase the amount.
  • Wash the piece until it is light and homogeneous, and looks like a shade of old color.
    • The problem of chlorine is that it is a strong chemical, working on the erosion of the cloth; increasing the possibility of rupture or damage to the piece, and to avoid this problem we use antimatter.
  • Rinse the piece directly with water as soon as it is removed from the wash basin; in order to remove the chlorine effect from the piece, its effect will not last longer.
  • If you use hydrogen peroxide, add half a cup per gallon of water. When using sodium thiocriptate, add half a tablespoon per gallon of water.
    • Here, the acid should not be used as vinegar, because it will form HClO acids. These acids are harmful to the cloth and increase its corrosion.
  • Leave the piece in the tub with antimatter for half an hour before drying.

If the piece can not be treated with alcohol, and you do not want to put it completely in chlorine solution, you can resort to dye the whole piece, and here we can change color if we want.
