Human temperature
Human body temperature is one of the vital biomarkers that give a clear and correct perception of body health and safety; the body’s normal temperature is 37 degrees Celsius or 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit.
Methods for measuring body temperature
There are many ways to measure body temperature, as follows:
- Use the thermometer inserted under the tongue, under the armpit, or inside the anus in the case of children and newborns, and it is very important to clean the thermometer before use and after use with sterile material.
- In the case of sunburn and loss of consciousness, the skin temperature can be measured by placing the palm over the victim’s forehead or placing it on the cheek; this method gives an initial but inaccurate idea.
- Use a temperature sensitive adhesive tape placed on the front of the patient, left for several minutes, and then notice the change in temperature through the color change of the tape, or the appearance of body temperature depending on the quality of the tape.
Low human temperature
The temperature of the human body as a result of low blood under the skin in several cases, including:
* Bleeding cases. The lymphatic system secretes a large amount of adrenaline that causes narrowing of the capillaries under the skin and closes it to prevent bleeding. It is noticed that the skin color has become pale.
- Angina cases, fainting caused by diabetes.
- Frost exposure and severe drop in temperature of the weather.
- The temperature of the body begins to decrease gradually if the patient is left for a long period until it reaches the cold, and this is one of the signs of death.
Treat low body temperature
- Warm the casualty and remove any wet clothes worn.
- Determine the cause of hypothermia to determine the appropriate way to raise the temperature such as the use of artificial respiration, or use the appropriate medical property.
High human temperature
The temperature of the human body is higher than normal due to:
- Exposure to sunstroke; the skin is hot, red or dry.
- Make muscular effort, such as playing, running or exercising.
- And the entry of viruses into the body; the immune system begins to resist and eliminate the viruses in the cases of cold and flu; the body temperature rises and the skin color becomes wet red.
Treatment of high body temperature
- Cool the patient’s body by using cold compresses on the forehead or feet.
- Take a cool bath or snorkel in cold water for several minutes.
- Use hypothermia after consulting your doctor.
- Consult your doctor to determine the cause of the disease.
