What is hay fever

An allergic rhinitis or “hay fever” is associated with the vast majority of people. It is the result of a reaction to a nasal feeling caused by the person’s inhalation of dust, pollination of plants and others, leading to inflammation of the nose and its mucous membranes lining it. It is often accompanied by sneezing, blistering eyes and runny nose.

Hay fever is a reaction to the immune system in the human body as a result of the entry of specific antibodies called antibodies to the body. The immune system then stimulates the formation of the antibodies to attack the antigen, thus causing the appearance of various allergic symptoms. Of a certain age, most children have it, and symptoms can occur at puberty.

Causes of hay fever:

  • Asthma .
  • Sinusitis.
  • There is a defect in the immune system in humans.
  • Gene and heredity may be a cause of allergies.
  • Smoking.
  • Dust, sources of aromatherapy, pollination of plants, dust mites and others, are an irritant in the body.

Treatment of hay fever:

The treatment of hay fever better to stay away from allergens, and treatment with drugs varies according to the severity of allergies, including:

  • Antihistamines such as: ficofenadine, loratadine, ceterecine, dyslortadine, difenhydramine, noting that some of these drugs may be sleepy, preferably taken during the day.
  • Antihypertensive drugs such as: naphazoline, oximethazoline, pseudoephedrine, phenylaferrin, not used for more than five days, and not suitable for patients with high pressure.
  • Corticosteroids, such as budesonide, hydrocortisone, fluticazone, beclomethasone, prednisone, are directly in the nose, and in more severe cases through injection.
  • Adrenalin: is prescribed in cases of serious allergies.
  • Injection of immunoglobulin, to stimulate the body’s return to the factors that raise the sensitivity, based on the lack of response of the body to drugs.

In severe cases, sinus infections, irritations, complications in the immune system, and complications of asthma may increase asthma severity.

No protective measures have been taken to prevent hay fever, so it is recommended that the person be careful to avoid allergens such as animal fur and sand, which helps to delay the occurrence of any allergic attack.
