Haloumi Cheese
Haloumi Cheese (White Cheese) is one of the most famous cheeses belonging to the group of milk, prepared from cow’s milk, goat or cow, and characterized by soft texture and pure white color. This type of cheese is grown in Cyprus and can be eaten fresh, grilled, or mashed or with some vegetable varieties, and can be prepared with many dishes containing pasta.
How to prepare Haloumi cheese
The milk is prepared by using a quantity of warm sheep milk, then a thawed substance is added by half a teaspoon of it, melted in an appropriate amount of water (about a quarter of a liter) and then added to the milk. The milk is then stirred for five minutes and covered and left in a warm place For at least 50 minutes.
Milk must be lost during fermentation with a knife, then the mixture must be cut into cubes until the water comes out.
Leave the cubes for a period of no more than ten minutes, and then taken and placed on a piece of gauze in a strainer to be drained of water.
The resulting water is collected and boiled, then the chunks of cheese are placed in this water, and if you step up to the surface it is an indication of sterilization and ready for consumption.
