Types of beta thalassemia
Beta – thalassemia is small or carrier of the disease
In this type one gene is infected.
Beta – Thalassemia
This type consists of two cases: the first where the Jinan infected but partially disabled. In the second case, beta-thalassemia is associated with other hemoglobin-related diseases such as hemoglobin C and thalassemia such as: (one parent has hemoglobin C and the other has thalassemia)
Beta thalassemia super
In this type, the genes are totally deficient.
Alpha thalassemia results from deletion in one of the four genes responsible for producing alpha chains, so either one, two, three, or four genes can be deleted.
Thalassemia is common in the Mediterranean, Northeast Asia and Africa, and beta thalassemia is more common than alpha thalassemia. The incidence of disease in these areas is 10%.
