The mouth is the first part of the digestive system; it occupies part of the face and gives the acceptable or rejected form to the human in others. The mouth has a cavity in the face confined between the upper and lower lips, cheeks and pharynx. It consists of several parts.
- Tongue, speech, and expression. In addition, the tongue contributes to the process of digestion of food; it throws food in the mouth during the chewing process and helps to mix the food pieces with saliva.
- Salivary glands, which perform the first process of digestion of starch in the mouth, as you moisturize food before pushing the esophagus.
- Teeth, give the aesthetic appearance of the face and smile, and teeth of all kinds of cutting food.
- Lips; give the face and smile to the face, and contribute to the process of speech and taste and sense of things.
Causes of mouth odor
- Eat some foods or beverages that cause unpleasant smell in your mouth such as onions, garlic, leeks, and milk.
- Smoking.
- Discontinuation of eating and drinking several hours; notes about waking up during sleep or during fasting.
- Neglecting the cleanliness of the mouth, tongue and teeth leads to the accumulation of bacteria in the mouth on food residue which causes bad smell.
- The presence of diseases in the mouth such as caries and oral ulcers, and the presence of diseases in the blood, such as diabetes.
- Cases of lethargy, flu, sore throat and lungs lead to an unpleasant smell in the mouth.
- The presence of a defect in the digestive system and should visit the doctor.
- Aging especially with neglect of the cleanliness of the mouth, teeth and tongue.
Ways to remove the smell of mouth
- Take care of personal hygiene, using the brush at least twice a day, once before bedtime and other when waking up, and not use the brush for more than six months.
- To follow the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) by using siwaak before every prayer; he is an antiseptic for the mouth.
- Use mouth-scented sugars with strong flavors such as peppermint and cinnamon, chewing gum flavored with these flavors for some time provided they are sugar-free.
- Take care to clean the tongue by hanging it from the leftover food with a toothbrush or spoon edge.
- Odor may result from dry mouth, so it is necessary to drink plenty of water to make the mouth always wet, and eat vegetables and fruits rich in fiber.
- The presence of a health problem in the blood or the digestive system or mouth and teeth;
- Use mouthwash from pharmacies or prepare a natural mouthwash at home, such as with cold mint or boiled parsley.
