- It is made from barley, a drink of acceptable taste. It calms the nerves and is prescribed for people suffering from constipation and bladder infections. Twenty grams of barley are soaked in a liter of water, boiled well and then left to cool, and a cup is taken before food.
- Shaykh Ibn Sina says in his book “The Law of Medicine” that boiled barley is used to treat the scabies. The barley is placed with the pits cooked over the tumors and pimples. If mixed with vinegar and barley, it is used as a dressing on the scabies.
- Barley has become used in diets and slimming programs where studies have shown that barley drink helps to fill appetite, reduce the feeling of hunger, and works to burn fat and eliminate excess weight.
