Treatment of delayed pregnancy with herbs
Some studies have shown positive effect of some herbs in fertility, but these studies are few and therefore there is no clear and strong evidence that we can rely on to say definitively that any herb has a beneficial effect on pregnancy.
- Fruits of Chaste tree: which is taken from a tree called chaste tree. These fruits are used to balance hormones, regulate menstrual cycles, and stimulate ovulation. Some claims are helpful in some types of infertility. A study published in 2006 of 93 women, the study divided women into two groups; a group of herbal supplements containing the palm of chaste tree. Three months later, 14 women out of 53 women. This supplement was compared to only four pregnancies of the original 40 of those who took this treatment, and there are also three women who were pregnant after six months of taking this supplement.
- Chinese herbs: where a 2015 study found that the incidence of pregnancy was higher in women who took Chinese herbs. This was for couples who resorted to IVF compared to women who did not take these herbs in conjunction with the IVF process.
- Black Cohosh Plant: used by some women to control the menstrual cycle and some men to increase the efficiency of sperm, and be aware that black cohosh is not safe during pregnancy.
- Cassava roots: (In English: Cassava root), which is believed to support fertility.
- Maca’s roots: (Maca root), which supports the health and fertility of women and men.
- Sawmills: (Saw palmetto), which helps increase sperm count, but there is some evidence that sperm may be harmed by its use.
It should be noted that if you want to try any herb products to treat delayed pregnancy, it is necessary to consult with health care providers first. The Food and Drug Administration does not manage the organization of these products and therefore may not know the full ingredients of a product or the dosage of the drug in it, in addition to the fact that some products that are alleged to increase the chance of pregnancy are not safe during pregnancy or lactation.
