Sinusitis is a common condition that affects many people, especially with different weather fluctuations from season to another or with excessive exposure to hot sun rays or frequent allergic reactions. Sinusitis means inflammation of the lining of the sinuses in the nose and surrounding skeletons, large droughts in the nasal passages, and the accumulation of some fungi and bacteria in them, causing a feeling of discomfort in breathing with obvious irritation in the surrounding organs such as eyes, pharynx and the face in general.
Sinusitis may be a simple or transient type of not more than 3 weeks or a type of chronic allergies that accompany the person most of the time and stretches for very long periods. Sinusitis is accompanied by some annoying symptoms that can be summarized as follows:
Symptoms of sinusitis
- Frequent sneezing.
- Dry cough or with sputum.
- Sensitivity in the eyes of direct light.
- Red eyes.
- Pain in the teeth “sometimes”.
- Loss of sense of smell.
- Pain in the face “cheeks and around the eyes”.
- Burning and dryness in the nasal passages.
Treatments used to get rid of sinusitis
- Good ventilation of the room; the windows and doors of the bedroom must be opened to refresh the air for at least half an hour a day in the morning.
- Nasal hydration. Sinusitis dehydrates the nasal passages, so it should be moistened with nasal sprays 2-3 times a day to get adequate moisture and relieve the accompanying symptoms.
- Avoid high heat. The person should stay cool and wet and stay as far away as possible from hot places because they aggravate the problem and dry the nose.
- Keep away from irritating factors such as exposure to chemicals such as hairspray, insecticide, deodorant, cigarette smoke or other household detergents.
- Maintain your body’s moisture by drinking liquids with at least 8 glasses of water per day, as well as drinking warm drinks such as tea, various herbs and soups, while avoiding coffee as it dries nasal passages.
- It is one of the most successful treatments for the sinuses. It gives it a good hydration and alleviates the symptoms associated with it by boiling water in a pot and then inhaling its steam with the head covered with a towel for 8 minutes after adding auxiliary elements such as garlic, thyme oil and tree oil tea, sea salt and chopped onions with the addition of a kind of essential oils, a little balsamic to get the best results.
- Concentrate on drinking tea, sage, ginger, thyme and lemon; because it is very effective in moisturizing the nasal passages, with the distance from dairy products because they are harmful to the condition.
- Eat foods high in vitamin D and vitamin C because they help heal sinuses.
