The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) forbade sleeping on the abdomen, which he described as the sleep of the people of Hell. He said, “It is the joy of the people of Hell.” In another hadeeth, he said: “It is a year that Allah hates and His Messenger hates.” The right incision, rather than the hellish hypocrisy of Islam.
With the evolution of science, the studies proved the correctness of the Prophet – peace be upon him – and that sleep on the abdomen has great disadvantages on the body, while studies encouraged sleep on the right side of the body because of the health benefits on the body.
So we had to address the risk of “damage” sleep on the abdomen and compare it to sleep on the right side to reach the best option.
The risk of sleeping on the abdomen for men and women
1. Increase kidney stones.
Where studies have shown that sleeping on his stomach, especially women make them more prone to the formation of kidney stones, so that moving the body during sleep in other ways left and right protects the body from the formation of gravel, but sleep on the abdomen keeps the body without movement and this leads to the deposition of stones more.
2. To weaken the abdominal muscles, and the emergence of the stomach and make it flabby.
3. Curvature of the back over time, and the injury of the vertebrae by stress.
4. Damage to the neck and possibly calcification, due to the inconsistency of the body during sleep on the abdomen, in addition to the person’s feeling of convulsions and constriction of the nerves.
5. Addiction to masturbation due to genital contact with bedding.
The risk of sleeping on the abdomen for children
A study shows that children who are accustomed to sleep on the abdomen are more likely to die. The study confirmed that the mortality rate rises to three times when sleeping on the abdomen compared to children who sleep on one of the right or left sides.
The risk of sleeping on the abdomen of the pregnant woman
Although there is no risk of sleeping on the abdomen for the pregnant woman during the first three months, because the fetus is protected inside the cavity “pelvic bone”.
However, pregnant women are at risk after this period, ie after the fourth month if they continue to sleep on their stomach, where the size of the uterus increases and begins to exit from the pelvis to the basin of the normal basin, which does not contain bones, becomes palpable by hand.
During pregnancy, the fetus is exposed to sleep. It is never recommended to sleep on the abdomen after the third month, especially after the placenta is placed on the front wall of the uterus. So it is best to sleep on one of the right or left sides to maintain the health and health of the fetus.
The benefits of sleeping on the “right side” slit
1. Relieve the weight of the body on the heart because the left lung is smaller than the right.
2. The stability of the liver does not remain suspended, which makes it work properly
3. Satisfaction of the stomach, and its ability to empty the food easily after digestion.
4. The ease of bronchial function, and the transmission of oxygen in the trachea, which protects against the incidence of many diseases such as colds, colds and dry gums, which double the incidence of breathing in the mouth.
5. Putting the right hand on the right cheek during sleep generates vibrations through which the brain is discharged from excess and harmful charge, leading to the proper relaxation for a perfect sleep.
