Ulcers
Gastric ulcers are a pattern of gastric ulcers, gastrointestinal tract, and open ulcers forming in the stomach wall. Gastric ulcer is a common disorder that affects many people and affects different age groups. However, the most common age group for gastric ulcers are people over the age of 60. The diagnosis for gastric ulcers is based on an endoscopy of the lining of the stomach, Which are taken from the stomach during the endoscopy process, or through laboratory tests that reveal the presence of bile duct bacteria.
Signs of stomach ulcers
There are many symptoms and signs that appear on the patient, including:
- Feeling severe pain in the upper abdomen, in the area of the head of the stomach.
- High acidity in the stomach.
- The inability of the membrane of the stomach to resist hydrochloric acid; it leads to high acidity and eating back to the esophagus, and many pain is difficult to bear.
- Persistent feeling of nausea and vomiting.
- In cases of severe ulcer, severe bleeding occurs in the digestive system, and may come out with defecation or vomiting.
- There may be a hole in the wall of the stomach, which leads to leakage of food, and this is dangerous for the patient of the ulcer; requiring surgery to close this hole.
- The symptoms of gastric ulcers also spread the incidence of intestinal obstruction.
- Loss of appetite and inability to eat.
Causes of stomach ulcers
Infection with gastric ulcers is associated with many factors affecting the patient, including the following:
- The imbalance between the stomach acids and the mucosa surrounding the stomach.
- It may be due to bacterial infection, which is called “H. pylori”, which causes irritation in the lining of the stomach and the upper part of the intestines.
- Overuse of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, for example: aspirin and ibuprofen.
- In rare cases, the disease may be abdominal.
- Viral infections may occur in rare cases.
Treatment of stomach ulcers
Treatment for gastric ulcers depends on the cause of the ulcer. Treatment measures include:
- By giving the patient some drugs that inhibit the production of acidity of the stomach.
- If the infection is caused by bovine spongiform bacteria, then the treatment is by antibiotics.
- When the infection is due to the treatment of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory should be stopped immediately.
- In cases of complications caused by an ulcer, such as a stomach hole or bleeding, surgery is required.
