Diarrhea describes bowel movements that are loose and watery. The condition is very common and usually not serious. Many people will suffer from diarrhea once or twice every year. This condition usually takes 2.3 days and can be treated without a prescription. Some people who have diarrhea often have as part of irritable bowel syndrome or other chronic diseases that affect the large intestines. Doctors classify diarrhea as “osmotic,” “secretive,” or “sacrificed.”
Diarrhea is a sign that something in the intestine brings water closer to the body. One of the most common examples is sorbitol, an alternative to sugar found in sugar-free candy and gum that is not absorbed by the body but directs water to the intestine, leading to diarrhea. Excessive diarrhea occurs when the body exports water to the intestine. There are many infections, medications, and other conditions that cause diarrheal diarrhea. Signs of diarrheal diarrhea are the presence of blood and pus in the stool. This occurs with the presence of diseases and infections in the intestine such as Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis, and many infections.
What causes diarrhea?
The most common cause of diarrhea is a gastrointestinal virus. Infection usually lasts for two days and is sometimes called “stomach flu” or “stomach flu”. Diarrhea can also be caused by:
- Infection by bacteria (cause of most types of food poisoning)
- Infection through other organisms
- Eat foods that disturb the digestive system
- Sensitivity to certain foods
- pharmaceutical
- Radiation therapy
- Bowel disease (Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis)
- Malabsorption (where the body is unable to absorb enough nutrients from food)
- Hyperthyroidism
- Some types of cancer
- Laxatives
- Alcohol abuse
- Gastrointestinal surgery
- Diabetes
Diarrhea may follow constipation, especially for people who have irritable bowel syndrome.
What are the symptoms of diarrhea?
Symptoms of diarrhea can be divided into uncomplicated (or non-serious) symptoms and complicated diarrhea symptoms may be a sign of a more serious illness.
- Symptoms of non-complex diarrhea include:
- Abdominal swelling or cramps
- Stools are thin or loose
- Water stool
- Feeling of urgency and feeling of intestinal movement
- Nausea and vomiting
- In addition to the above symptoms, complex diarrhea symptoms include:
- Blood, mucus, or food is not stimulated in the stool
- Weight loss
- The presence of fever
Call your doctor if you have long-term diarrhea or diarrhea, or fever that lasts more than 24 hours. You should call your doctor immediately if vomiting prevents you from drinking liquids, which prevents you from making up for lost fluids.
