Causes of cleft nails
The blue nail may appear as a side effect for some types of medication, and may also occur due to lack of oxygen in the blood such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, severe anemia, cold exposure, exposure to high pressure, peripheral arterial disease, or trauma. There are some common diseases that may be the difference between the color of the nail to shine, including Wilson’s disease, silver poisoning, chronic lung disease, under the nail, and other diseases.
Sometimes it may be due to a strong blow to the nail, which causes it to burn completely, or only in the place of the strike. To treat nail blemishes, its cause should be treated.
Change the color of nails
The color of the nail may change to a color other than blue:
- Black color: Black color may occur due to injury, such as bleeding from the bruise under the nail. The effect will not disappear until the blood is removed or the nail grows and the blood is removed by itself. This may take several weeks. Skin cancer may be the cause of rare cases, so check with your doctor immediately if the color change continues for a long time.
- Brown: Brown lines usually appear for people with darker skin, a concern if they suddenly appear, and may be caused by undernourishment or some medications.
- Green: The color of the nail may be due to the color of green due to fungal infection or bacteria.
- Pale white color: This may be caused by food disorders, such as anemia, zinc deficiency, or other medical problems.
- White spots: They may appear due to a minor injury to the nail and need several weeks to get off, may appear due to lack of calcium and some other nutrients.
- Yellow: This condition occurs due to the separation of the nail from the skin due to an injury, a health problem or skin infection. This color may also appear due to some health problems such as chronic lung disease or cancer, color changes to yellow due to cigarette smoking as well, or the use of nail polish.
