Bacterial meningitis

For inflammation of the brain membranes, caused by different types of bacteria.

Symptoms:

  • High temperature.
  • Tight in the neck.
  • Different level of awareness and perception.
  • Disturbance of dazzling lighting.
  • The appearance of allergy on the skin in the form of small red or violet pimples color.

When you feel any of these symptoms, you should see your doctor immediately without delay because the delay in diagnosis and treatment has severe complications such as hearing loss, spread of inflammation to the brain cells and sometimes death.

Diagnostic tests performed include:

1. Blood test.

2. A class image of the brain.

3. Lumbar puncture.

Bacterial meningitis: Bacterial meningitis is usually not contagious but some of the bacteria that cause it may pass from one person to another, so preventive precautions should be taken until the type of germ that causes the infection is established.

There are vaccines for some types of bacteria that cause meningitis, which can be taken to prevent it. These include:

1. Pulmonary pneumonia.

2. Meningococcus.

3. Haemophilus influenzae type B.

In some types of bacterial meningitis, the doctor describes types of antibiotics for family members or friends who have had direct contact with the patient to prevent infection with the same bacteria.
