Natural Birth After One Caesarean section Vaginal Birth After Caesarean (VBAC)
A caesarean section (the opening of the abdomen and uterus under anesthesia) leaves a surgical scar on the wall of the uterus which weakens it. This leads to the possibility of uterine rupture during labor (birth and throat pain) in the next pregnancy. This is a very low probability after one caesarean section (obtained in one woman out of 250 women in the same case). Natural birth after Caesarean section is considered safe for most women.
However, in some cases natural delivery may not be possible, as is the case with:
- The presence of more than one caesarean section generally
- Non-expansion of the cervix
- Poor fetal heartbeat during labor
- Having a baby seat down
- Pregnancy is a large child or more than a child
- Multiple other cases
Natural birth characteristics of Caesarean section:
- Bleeding and need for blood transfusion is less
- Less pain and recovery from birth and out of hospital faster
- The speed of return to normal life
- Absence of surgery and anesthesia problems
- The risk of wound inflammation and uterus less
- The possibility of a natural rebirth in the future
Caesarean section leads to adhesions between the layers of the abdomen or internal organs of the abdomen, which may increase complications and the seriousness of future surgery on the pelvic area (Caesarean or others)
The higher the number of cesarean, the more likely the placenta to contract in the womb increases the risk of bleeding, hysterectomy and surgical complications
Possible risks of natural delivery after a caesarean section:
The possibility of rupture of the uterus and thus the harm or death of the fetus (one fetus out of every 1,000 fetuses) and the need for the mother to open a very urgent abdomen and repair rupture or removal of the uterus and blood transfusion
Sudden Anesthesia Problems:
- These risks are lower in normal labor and are increased when artificial labor is used (with drugs)
- The risk increases when a woman has previously been numb
- Inhalation of gastric fluids and acute pneumonia
Important things to know:
Does every woman give birth to a single Christian who is able to experience natural birth later?
This depends on the desire of the woman primarily and depends on the reason for the first caesarean section and its nature (lower or upper)
If the pregnant woman exceeds her natural birth date or when there is a need to generate it before her due date and the absence of normal labor, the induction of labor has multiple methods that may cause uterine rupture:
- Vaginal drugs may rupture the uterus in a woman of every 40 women
- Intravenous drugs may rupture the uterus in a woman of every 125 women
- Normal labor may rupture the uterus at one in 250 women
- Caesarean section without labor The uterine rupture of a woman in every 625 women (spontaneous rupture)
What’s the solution ?
You should discuss the medical staff supervising you in your own situation. Is it possible to experiment with your natural birth? The medical staff should review your complete file
You should also report on your previous operation
