Depression, we can cut it with the disease of the times, most of us suffer from depression, and we may be infected without knowing. So we need to know its symptoms, its causes, and how to treat it. I will discuss three main sections to explain this type of disease:

The concept of depression

Depression is a mental illness or psychological condition. It is classified as a disorder in the mood, where a rapid and sharp change of mood occurs, a dislike of doing business and activities, affecting a person’s feelings, and giving negative thoughts. It is a disease of the soul and body.

Symptoms of depression

  • Weak body energy, and unwillingness to do normal activities.
  • Sleep for long hours, or constant insomnia.
  • Persistent pain in the body such as back pain, and head.
  • The agitation is quick for inexplicable reasons and unjustified, continuous crying.
  • Increase or decrease weight significantly.
  • Dispersion of thoughts, disorder of thinking.
  • Excessive nervousness, thinking of suicide, and inability to make decisions.
  • Not wanting to have sex.
  • Blurred vision.

Causes of Depression

The main cause of depression has not yet been reached, but there are many factors that stimulate this type of mental illness, namely environmental, genetic, and biological-chemical (biochemical) factors.

With regard to the genetic factor: Research has been conducted to find out the causes of depression that people who are more susceptible to depression, are people who have relatives of biological people with depression, but scientists have not yet reached the genes that have to do with the cause of the disease. Environmental factors: the loss of a loved one, failure, or deterioration of the economic situation … and others. On the biochemical side: Research confirms that neurotransmitters in the human brain that are related to mood play a major role in depression.

Treatment of depression

Depression can be treated through pharmacological, psychological and electroshock therapy, but other methods are still under consideration for treatment such as brain stimulation. Treatment varies from person to person depending on the nature of the patient and the degree of depression he or she suffers from. Some problems can be treated by a general psychiatrist, others require a specialist therapist, and the patient’s will and cooperation with the doctor contributes to his treatment more effectively and faster.

Accelerating the treatment of depression as soon as the signs of the person contributes to the solution of the problem quickly, and long-term preventive treatment prevents the recurrence of symptoms of depression. The support and appreciation, and the introduction of joy and pleasure on the same person reduces the possibility of depression.
