Colds
Also known as colds, acute pharyngitis, or colds. It is a viral infection of the respiratory system (nose and pharynx), a highly contagious disease, and symptoms continue from one week to ten days, but if severe it lasts from one to three weeks.
Upper respiratory tract infections are divided into two parts: the section that affects the nose, throat and sinuses. Catarrh is often the result of infection rather than the virus itself.
Catarrh is one of the most common diseases among humans, with the incidence of infection between two or three times for adults, and children are counted between six to twelve times. It also has no cure, but it is possible to treat the symptoms. The nasal cells try to expel the flu virus and wash it with mucus, which changes color at the end of the infection to green or yellow, which is normal and does not require treatments or antibiotics.
Symptoms of colds
- Sperm or runny nose.
- Pain in the throat
- Cough
- Simple heartburn in the eyes.
- General fatigue and fatigue
- High body temperature
- Hoarseness
- Headache.
Ways to prevent colds
- Keep away from crowds, places where people are crowded, such as schools, hospitals, and kindergartens, where the incidence of infection and infection from one person to another, especially if the place is tight and non-aerated.
- Immunity in the human body, especially in children.
- Personal hygiene, clean the place where people are, and stay away from smoking as much as possible.
Cure for colds
- Take adequate rest, especially sleep when the temperature rises.
- Take medication or analgesic to relieve pain, and relieve the temperature.
- The use of nose drops, which work to remove congestion, and advised not to use more than three days, so as not to increase complications of congestion and difficult to cure.
- Inhaling hot water vapor works to open the nose, relieving congestion.
- Stay away from smokers, and smoking.
- Drink plenty of fluids, especially warm, preferably sweetened with honey.
- Continue to wash hands always, so as to prevent transmission of infection from person to person.
Methods of treating colds with herbs
There are some useful herbs in the treatment of colds and nasal congestion, which are very effective, can be summarized as follows:
Thyme
Thyme is one of the most used plants in the treatment of colds, and the method is as follows:
- Put the water in a pot on the fire until it reaches the boiling point.
- Add thyme leaves, and extinguish the fire directly.
- Thyme leaves in boiling water for at least three or four minutes.
It is preferable to drink thyme and hot before sleeping, because thyme helps the patient to sweating, and this helps in the rapid treatment of colds.
Calitus plant
Calitus is used to evaporate the houses, so as to get rid of the bacteria in the house, which helps in the infection of the cold in case of presence, and thus protect the family members from the disease.
Use garlic and olive oil
Garlic and olive oil are used in cases of severe cold and chest pain. The method is as follows:
- Cut the garlic small pieces and put on olive oil, and put on fire.
- Remove from the fire, and paint chest and stomach patient, and advised not to be exposed to air.
- This process is repeated three times a day for better results.
Note: (Recommended cumin instead of garlic for children).
Garlic contains a substance called “Elsin”, an effective substance in the treatment of colds, and is found in the clove of fresh garlic more than dried.
Timryot plant
It is used in cases of colds and severe gonorrhea, and the method is as follows: Grind well and placed in the nose, repeated this process from three to four times a day to get good results.
Foliage plant
Its method is done as a method of boiling thyme, by adding its leaves to boiling water, leaving for minutes and drinking. It can also be added with potatoes and eaten for breakfast.
Ginseng plant
It is a safe and effective plant used to treat severe colds.
Celery plant
They are very useful in treating colds, where they are aged and drunk about two cups a day (cup after breakfast, cup after lunch or dinner), and can be added to food, especially vegetable soup, or cooked vegetables.
The chamomile plant
Chamomile flowers are very useful in the treatment of severe colds, and is used by inhalation, where the flowers are dried and crushed, and then inhaled.
Quick ways to get rid of the cold
There are quick, easy and often available ways at home to get rid of colds, including:
- Lemon juice with pure honey, recommended for use in cases of nasal congestion.
- Add two or three points of lemon to tea.
- Place two or three olive oil in the injured nose.
- Eat some fruits that contain vitamin C, such as oranges and papaya. Grape has a great role in reducing the temperature.
- Boil a cup of milk, add an egg and a little black pepper, and drink warm.
- Drink chicken soup, where studies have shown that it is used as an anti-inflammatory, and helps relieve nasal congestion. The soup is also a fluid that is good and useful in cases of colds.
- Eat zinc-rich foods such as oysters, red meat, pulses, nuts, and whole grains.
- Water inhalation: the introduction of water to the nose and exit, where the nose is cleaned, an effective and safe method, has been recommended by the Prophet peace be upon him.
- Eat a cup of lemon juice with well-grounded ginger, with a pinch of honey, preferably without sugar, and drink on the saliva.
- Eat a drink of tamarind, where you prefer to drink two cups a day, a cup after breakfast, and another cup after the food. Low blood pressure patients are not advised to take it because it works to lower it.
- Place one or two points of black bean oil, after frying it in edible oil, olive oil, or cotton seed oil. Also have to eat a large hanging of them daily on the saliva, preferably drink with a cup of tea or milk only once a day.
- Eating half a raw bulb daily helps to treat quickly.
- Distillation of the nose with two drops of pomegranate juice, which works on the treatment of colds quickly.
- Treat the carrots without rinsing, preferably washed well and cleaned of impurities.
- Eat radishes, preferably prunes and added to lemon juice or with a small suspension of pure honey.
- Distillation of the nose with two drops of camphor oil, preferably added with any other oil, is used to clear areas of the nose, mouth, and bottom of the chest.
Complications that may occur due to colds
- Osteoarthritis: The use of antibiotics in the treatment of colds is less than the rate of inflammation of the middle ear.
- Sinusitis: Most people who get colds also suffer from sinus infections after a cold.
- Asthma: where large attacks occur, which is very dangerous for asthmatics.
