pharmaceutical
There are five steps in the treatment of asthma by medication, these steps are:
1 – inhalation of short-term bronchodilators (Salpitamol), which reduces the symptoms of the disease
2 – the use of preventative treatment is corticosteroid by inhalation (beclamatazone) in a primitive dose 400 micrograms and the most important side effects the emergence of fungi in the mouth and the sound of sound
3. Addition of long-term bronchodilators (salmeterol) by inhalation with increased corticosteroid dose to 800 micrograms
4 – the addition of a fourth drug, such as montolokast (lactotriene receptor inhibitor) or theophylline (extended to the bronchi)
5 – the use of oral corticosteroids and follow-up side effects, and the use of anti-steroidal anti-steroid drugs to reduce the dose of steroid, including methotrexate and cyclosporine.
After controlling symptoms, doses of steroid should be gradually reduced to sufficient dose to control the disease.
In the case of complications of asthma, treatment will be as follows:
- Introducing the patient to the hospital, monitoring the patient’s condition through vital signs, measuring blood oxygen saturation and measuring blood gases in the arterial blood
- Oxygen humidifier to increase saturation to more than 92%
- Use short-term dilators (salbitamol) by inhalation
- And the use of dilute abratropium bromide (Anticholinergic) by inhalation
- Use of hydrocortisone in vein
- In case of non-response use aminophylline or magnesium sulfate
- In case of failure, the patient should be placed on an artificial ventilator.
