A healthy person needs to sleep every day for about 7-9 hours, so that he can get the energy he needs to perform the tasks required of him, so that his body can rejuvenate and increase the ability to absorb and concentrate during the day. And not to postpone the time or reduce the number of hours a day for the month of entertainment or entertainment; because this will reflect negatively on the general health and tired skin, and exhausting the body, and causes the disorder of the biological clock of the body, which leads to diseases and chronic health problems.
Some people may suffer from the problem of excessive sleep. In other words, a person sleeps for more than 12 to 14 hours a day. This is a condition that requires treatment, because it may impede a person from doing his daily work, and may cause other health problems. The result of lying for long hours, is used to idle and laziness, and slow bowel movement and causes chronic constipation and others.
Causes of frequent sleep
- Hormonal changes that accompany puberty in both males and females.
- Lack of regular sleep hours, frequent change of daily schedule, late night or night shift, or night insomnia.
- Some medications, such as antibiotics or hormone medications that cause side effects, including sleeping disorders such as insomnia or excessive.
- Continuous laziness and lack of sense of responsibility.
- Frequent sleep apnea during sleep for a few seconds causes a disturbance in the nighttime hours of sleep, forcing him to compensate for what he missed sleep for longer hours during the day.
- Being overweight or obese, which causes fatigue and a feeling of permanent fatigue.
- Smoking addiction.
- The incidence of psychological depression or other diseases such as anxiety, sadness, trauma, or Alzheimer’s, or lack of concentration, as well as a sense of neglect.
- Hypothyroidism, and lack of secretions continuously leads to inactivity and constant drowsiness.
Methods of treatment of excessive sleep
- Exercising continuously, such as regular walking or running.
- Eat one or more cups of caffeine, such as coffee or tea.
- Organize and change daily sleep hours.
- Avoid daytime sleep “siesta”; they cause night insomnia.
- Treatment of the thyroid gland after confirming its limitations with the appropriate drugs prescribed by the specialist doctor.
- Improve diet by eating fruits and vegetables rich in fiber and simple sugars, while taking care to drink sufficient amounts of water daily to increase the activity and vitality of the body.
